The AR app is experimenting with how adding trigger warnings to paintings that could be considered by some to be depicting something controversial, might alter the way these paintings are understood and experienced.
The project is a prototype realized during the course of 4 weeks in Unity.
A frame on the camera view signals the user to frame the paintings within its borders, so that it may properly register which painting it is pointed towards.
The user interface of the app presents the user with only two buttons: show or censor. Clicking show reveals the painting, whereas clicking censor replaces the trigger warning with television white noise in its stead.
